Bollywood's King Khan is caught in a controversy following some reports, which stated that he got a sex-determination test conducted for his third child, who is expected through surrogacy.
Shahrukh and Gauri who have a son Aryan and daughter Suhana, are reported to be expecting a baby boy now.
Sex-determination of a foetus in India is forbidden by law given the skewed sex ratio and strong male-child preference in the country. Many states report dismal sex ratios and consequently increased crime against women. In many parts of India, gender discrimination continues in spite of stringent laws forbidding it.
The actor has not made any official statement on the issue yet. However if proved, this could lead to potential legal trouble for the actor along with widespread criticism from NGOs and other groups advocating rights of the girl-child.
