Shahrukh Khan's Third Child Controversy

Bollywood's King Khan is caught in a controversy following some reports, which stated that he got a sex-determination test conducted for his third child, who is expected through surrogacy.

Shahrukh and Gauri who have a son Aryan and daughter Suhana, are reported to be expecting a baby boy now.

Sex-determination of a foetus in India is forbidden by law given the skewed sex ratio and strong male-child preference in the country. Many states report dismal sex ratios and consequently increased crime against women. In many parts of India, gender discrimination continues in spite of stringent laws forbidding it.

The actor has not made any official statement on the issue yet. However if proved, this could lead to potential legal trouble for the actor along with widespread criticism from NGOs and other groups advocating rights of the girl-child.

RIP Jiah!

Bollywood actor Jiah Khan was found dead in her Mumbai apartment earlier this month. Further reports indicated that she hanged herself after being depressed for quite sometime.

Jiah Khan had shot to fame with her debut opposite Amitabh Bachchan in the movie Nishabd released in 2007. The controversial movie was based on Nabakov's Lolita. Jiah, a teen in the movie, falls in love with her friend's Dad, Amitabh Bachchan.

This movie gave Jiah a bold and bubbly image in Bollywood. She was also appreciated in two more movies that she did after this.

Her death at a young age of 25 shook Bollywood. In the next few days, her mother recovered her suicide note and released the six page letter to media.

The letter mentioned Jiah's troubled relationship with her boyfriend, Suraj Pancholi, who is the son of Bollywood actor Aditya Pancholi. Jiah alleged that Suraj used her physically and emotionally. She mentioned that she was raped and had to abort their baby. She was unable to cope up with this trauma and was therefore taking the extreme step of ending her life.

Her close friends also affirmed that Jiah had been disturbed because of her relationship with her boyfriend. However they also added that she was keen on returning to acting soon.

While the police has now arrested her boyfriend Suraj, this young death has brought forth the dark side of glamour and Bollywood.

In her twitter profile, Jiah described herself as an 'actor, poet, singer, musician and dreamer...life through my rose colored glasses'
